When I first began college, I wanted to pursue a degree in nursing. But I realized that nursing was not the right path for me. I concluded that I was more interested in the IT side of healthcare where I could work with EHRs, rather than treating patients face to face. I then began exploring other degree programs that would be suitable for me. As soon as I discovered the HCI BAS program at Bellevue College, I knew it was a great match because it would be a place for me to focus the enthusiasm and passion I have for healthcare and technology. It would also provide a real opportunity for me to use these interests to aid and advocate for others.

I have 6 years healthcare experience as a Medic in the US ARMY. I was able to experience the clinic and hospital setting while serving. This sparked my interest in making healthcare better. In my search of how I could do that I came across Healthcare Informatics and found that Bellevue College had a BA program for it. I was intrigued by the IT aspect in healthcare when doing my research and felt this was the right path for myself. I am now pursuing my degree within the program so I can better serve my country by doing something that would improve the quality of living through taking my place to help improve healthcare.
